In a floral state of mind

I haven't made a fashion post in a while, and it's quite over due. It's a new year and winter doesn't seem to be lasting to long here in Toronto. We've been getting a fair bit of rain, and I'm not complaining one bit.

Just this past weekend I went out with my roommate to go boot shopping. We made our way down to the shoe shops on Queen St. I love Queen St because each store is so different. You find yourself getting lost in all its glory. She ended up getting a pair of green Hunter booties, and a pair of mid-calf brown leather boots with stud detailing.

While shopping, I realized that retail spring happens in a week, so of course this makes me very excited for what this year's spring trends have to offer in fashion.

I of course love to pair light pretty things with hard-masculine pieces. Floral leggings and leather jackets reeks of hard and soft. This particular leather jacket is a stunner. This Theory made Robena Airy leather jacket has such a relaxed feeling to it, almost lazy. I'm hoping during my vacation in the UK that I come across something similar, if not exact, to this beautiful creation.

Another trend I'm excited about, FLORAL. Floral everything! Floral blazers, floral tops, hell even floral leggings. Nothing says spring like flowers. I will be making my way over to Topshop to purchase a pair of red rose jeggings (jeans that are leggings). Oh Liverpool, you await me with open arms full of superb shopping trips. I can't wait!

Mute Me Out

Oh how I love a good old hearty breakfast. Especially when I'm listening to Keren Ann. If you haven't heard of Keren Ann, she's a singer song-writer from Paris, France. I've recently downloaded her entire discography and fell in love with her first album, La Biographie de Luka Philipsen. She has a whimsical sound to her that makes you feel like everyday is a Sunday.

Anyways, I came to a bit of a realization today. The weather is starting to get colder and I realize that we didn't get much of a Summer, so I'm just accepting Winter this year. Usually I would piss and whine about the snow, but I'm finally embracing the idea of it. I've been wanting to go out and take a few pictures of my area. I'm surrounded by trees and they all look like they've been lit on fire with all the bright red and yellow leaves. I don't know when I'll be able to make time with work keeping me so busy. I'll try my best to post some on here.

So on to the outfit. I was feeling a muted palette today so I stuck to more grays and blacks. Generally when I'm feeling a muted outfit I tend to go for bolder makeup. So, I suggest a bright red lip and a neutral eye. I fell in love with the metallic striped top by Yuki (available at Topshop). I just love how it's tailored to the waist and the shoulders have an 80's feel to it. I'm really in the mood to purchase a power blazer with shoulder pads. With time.

Absolute Divinity

absolute divinity
I can't help but think I don't have enough shoes, especially wedges. I spotted these April Wedge Lace-ups as I was making a "get it" list for when I travel to England. They are absolutely stunning. I might just have to save these puppies for spring as the snowy Canadian winter approaches.
